[UA] Pinocchio Avatar

I was wondering, is there an avatar for a Pinocchio like character?  Soon 
(Pinocchio and Bicentennial Man aside) there might really be an ideal of a 
machine who wants to be human.  And of course once he makes human, he might 
be surprised by becoming something else.  Of course I'm thinking of an 
automaton, who might just achieve some Pinocchioian ideal.

Hey, wasn't Pinocchio in the original story wisked off at his "death" 
finally to become a real boy?

P.S. Now going to spew a short short story from today on ya, sorry

Some homeless guy was in the back of the store. I assumed he was homeless. 
He wore filthy clothes. He wore a big, ratty, wool cap pulled down over his 
long hair, and I couldn't see see his face. It was buried behind hat and 
hair. He was talking to a woman who works at the store. A few minutes 
before she asked if I was finding what I needed. I said yes, it's easy when 
you don't know what you want. She actually laughed at my lame attempt at a 
joke. She was being equally kind to this guy.

I couldn't hear what he was saying; he was whispering out of his hair. "Oh, 
he wouldn't do that!", she said, "He would never do that. He jokes around 
sometimes, but he would never do anything." He must have been saying 
something to her, because she kept reassuring him, "No, he would never do 
that." She talked to him in a way that made me wish she was talking to me 
that way.
