[UA] Bizarre Screaming

Man, that's a tough sell, too. Speaking as a guy with more experience with
midnight screaming than I'd wish on anybody, waking up an entire
neighborhood is HARD. I mean, when my son's been teething, he'll let loose
hollers that are so loud it actually hurts my eardrum. Yet no one from the
neighborhood ever comments or complains.
Maybe it's the umlauts. No, seriously, perhaps this is less a "scream"
than a low pitched moan. If it's really deep and low, it could penetrate a
lot more than a high squeal. You know -- like how you always hear the bass
and nothing else when some considerate driver decides to share his music
with everyone else on the road.
Alternately, it could be that the sound is noncentralized -- perhaps it's
coming from the sewer pipes, gas lines or other conduits under the houses,
so that the whole area is gently vibrating like a drum-top...
Okay. So what's the non-magickal explanation?

I recently discovered something that accomplished the unlikely goal of
providing 10% of what I like about hot mustard, 35% of what I like about
candy, and 100% of what I like about booze. It's called a "Fog Cutter,"
though that's a bit of a misnomer. It would be more appropriate to name it
the "Reaction-Time Deadener" or the "Inhibition Loosener." And it comes
with a tiny parasol.
