Pope Innocent III even tried to outlaw the crossbow as a most
unchristian, barbarous and cruel weapon but it was simply too
efective to be ignored and not used.

eheheheheh - how funny that, in those days, anything that challenged the
status quo of the ruling aristocracy ended up being "unchristian, barbarous
and cruel" and all that same aristocracy did was deemed right. What a long
way have we come since those days!

"Irony" is a kind of ironmongery, isn't it?
