Expiration Date was my first, and I loved it. Then I read Last Call, and it
was even better. Read 200 pages of Earthquake Weather, put it on the table
and started reading L.A. Confidential, by James Ellroy.

I'm not saying it's not a good book, because I haven't read it in full, but
the things that said "read me" were drowned by the cries of boredom and
enticing songs of other, more interesting books. Like L.A. Confidential.

Powers' writing that could be described as full and thorough at best, is in
EqW quite boring and dull, IMHO. It just didn't seem to be going anywhere.
What's worse, in the two prequels one of the things that kept me hooked
was "whattahell, what's going on, what are all these things, what's he
on?", and since EqW is a sequel, there was nothing of that nature.

Well, maybe there is, but I just didn't get it.

Anyway, this isn't amazon.com, so sorry for the quick review.

But do read L.A. Confidential :). Right after reading The Big Nowhere.

doesn't write for months and when he does, it's a book rant
