Well if I had to pick I'd go with C. Personally I'm not too fond of
WoD (though I like Exalted and the Trinity universe is alright) and the
storyteller mechanics aren't my cup of tea either. I personally think
the Ascension War as it was presented was lame and I was very happy to
see it sort of thrust out of the spotlight.
I think my biggest problem with Mage was that everything was fairly
well pigeonholed and there was no real sense of weirdness or wide eyed
wonder conveyed in the majority of the material. Additionally, and
this is a problem of WoD in general, because it is focused on magic it
is limited. While obviously it isn't a game to play if not everyone is
interested in a game that has a magical focus the lack of versatility
is one of the most hindering aspect of modern occult games (In-Nomine
is in my opinion the most extreme case of this). UA has a great deal
of versatility without being flavorless.
I hope that doesn't come off as Wolf bashing, it wasn't meant to, Mage
is definitely a good time with the right conditions and the unified
magic system is neat (I also like Dark Age: Mage's magic system). Also
the Storyteller's Guide to Mage is one of the best Mage books written
and the new Mage books are very well written (god help me I even like
the new splat books). Lots of nice material and inspiration in the
Storyteller's Guide.
I don't think UA is more grown up than Mage. I think that UA is less
forgiving and you have to be more accepting of the fact that your
character is going to get screwed up in at least one major way before
the story comes to a close.
