The best idea bucket for a grimly magical London is
from the writer Warren Ellis' run on Hellblazer. His
view on magic, london and slimy characters pigeonholes
into UA neatly. In the story Crucible, John
Constantine muses that magic can exist only if one is
fucked-up enough to REALLY believe in it.

My favourite scene is the ghostly newborns of the
unwanted-and-drowned infants in the Thames.
