Why the end, I wonder?  

I've found that establishing some glint of humanity in
all your NPCs early on helps, just in case you stumble
along the way later on.  

On the other hand, I can't get anyone to agree to
Powerkill either, except people who already think
about what their characters are doing.  That's sorta
preaching to the converted.
