It represents (among other things) your attunement to invisible influences.
This is actually (IMHO) a rather sweet bit where game-rules reinforce
game-setting. Adepts are generally charmless misanthropes, right? Well,
when you stat up an adept character, you probably spend most of your Soul
points on Magick rather than Charm or Lie. Ta da. Becaue they have
focussed their intuitions on inhuman things, they are poorly attuned to
human things. Similarly, avatars are so fixed on one pattern that's
emerged from the human aggregate, that they are often poorly equipped to
deal with quirky, individual humans.
