That's why DnD3 still rules for the vast majority of players <eg>. I
hate to think this, but unless you "educate the masses" (that is,
force them to play some other games) 90-odd percent of players
won't even think there are other games out there.
And even if they are aware about it, they don't care: they want their
lo-tec version of doom, as UA authors brilliantly put it.
Most players simply ignore any "grand design", unless it gives their
character "more power". Some of my players belong to this breed,
even if they conceal it behind a "modern-times" veneer (the Barret-
Arasaka from Cyb2020 instead of the two-hand sword). Luckily,
they also appreciate some good roleplaying and depth from time to
time... :-)
