Well, there's an unofficial rule in my gaming group: every 3-4
months we meet to choose the game we'd like to play, so everyone
that want to try to GM his/her favourite game has a chance to try it.
This way has the nice side effect we _don't_ usually play DnD ;-)
because we developed a natural curiosity for non-mainstream
games. (Werewolf and Fading Suns are _our_ mainstream).

The "bad" side effect is that long campaigns are difficult to keep --
but we are used to this: My Fading Suns campaign started in
1997, and from time to tome we resume it and take one step
further.

We usually manage to assemble at least two gaming group, so
there is interchange between us. from september 2001 to january
2002, I played a Virtual Adept in Mage. Now I'm GM'ing Unknown
Armies to my players, and we both seem to enjoy it. Fact is, UA is
a very demanding game. You cannot just get away with some gun-
fu action scene. No, you have to create a particular mood that is
neither pure surrealism nor pure horror, yet it MUST be a blend of
these. And that's not easy for GM. It is _very_ demanding.

So, breaks are welcome. We integrated it in our rotation system.
Moreover, when a party is done and another is still playing, we use
extra evenings for simple one-shot with even more "non
mainstream" games (FUDGE, for instance) . So we explore new
games and avoid GM and players burnout.

Ciao,
Max Lambertini
("Ari Hansen" in my Exodus Campaign)
