Hmmm...books to read...
Planetary is good start, as you've said. If you haven't yet, check out the
new "Fourth Man" compilation for the first story about some british
occultist called "Jack" (if memory serves). The sequence with the dead Tory
is one of the best I've seen.
>From Hell (Alan Moore) is a very very good source on old style Magic(k) and
beliefs, especially the Masons.
Umberto Eco's "Foucalts Pendulam" (spl?) is also a brilliant piece of work,
read it soon. Its a little tough going, but once your into it well worth
reading. Deals with the Comte, Rosicrucians, Templars, Illuminati, Masons
and Hermetic Magic(k), and unlike the Illuminatus Chronicles, actually makes
some sense!
H P Lovecraft is always a good idea. I mean in general. He'll improve your
horror gaming.
James Herbert, who does a lot of horror, is also worth picking up, in
particular "The Others" (No relation to the movie) with its hunchback
anti-hero and strange visions.
Good Omens (Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman) is a masterful spin on a pulp
apocalypse, funny as hell and features some sequences that a true classics
(such as the executive paintball party where they are suddenly all using
REAL guns)
Just some light reading for you to be getting on with....
