[UA] THE FOG (eek!)

Hi all,
just a brief note- read the The Fog by James Herbert
yesterday, and (lurid sex scenes besides) found it
quite UA able. Government conspiracy stuff aside, it
provides an interesting picture of someone becoming
hardened to violence:

minor spoiler

The main character starts out the book as being a
fairly straight up moral person, but throughout the
text he is presented with kill or be killed situations
of deepening intensity, until finally at the end the
sanctity of human life has no meaning to him, and he
finds himself able to kill without consequence.
The book also portrays quite intensely a "city gone
mad!" and the nutters who end up inhabiting it. Guess
I came to Herbert a bit late (The Fog was written
during the seventies)but I reckon that it could be
very useful. My two pence anyway...
