[UA] Dirk Allen....

I get a similar sense from reading the core rules that Dirk Allen is rather
an archetypal character. So is Alex Abel. So is Eponymous. So is Randy
Douglas. So is The Freak.

Now, Abel apparently came close to ascending, so his archetypal status is
accounted for in the metaplot. The Freak is a Godwalker, so ditto for
him/her. Randy Douglas is an avatar: check.

But Eponymous and Dirk Allen still stand out as being exemplary of a Type:
Dirk is the fool, the chronicler, the dirty, mad old wizard. And Eponymous
is the Walking Dead Man, the Man of Stone, the Silent Servant. These two
stand out from a host of "normal people" -- the sample PCs in the back of
the book, the members of the CotNG, Rebecca DeGhoule's followers -- as
archetypes of something or other. It seems odd that they're not labeled as
such.
