Heh, use that against them. Give them a straightforward
adventure. Throw in bits and hints of some grand
conspiracy. Watch the players sweat as they try to figure
out what your bastard mind is thinking up. Then revel in
the frustration that their greatest paranoia was created
only by themselves.

Then if you want to be a real evil prick (and who
doesn't?), keep notes of their paranoid suspicions and
smack the group with them 5 sessions later. I'm sure your
players will hate and love you.

Note: I have not read Ascension. I will order a copy soon
enough. I rarely buy anything D&D-related (exception being
Paradigm's Arcanis world), so this will be a rarity. I
couldn't tell you how the adventure is laid out or how good
it is.

I did download the free Mechanomancy school from Atlas
site. It seemed empty to me, but that's probably because
it was converted from UA to d20. I guess that was the best
way to handle the insanity of losing your memories....I
guess. I had high expectations of anything UA, and the d20
didn't quite meet those expectations.

=====
"Well, you take the freshly shaved rat, and you marinade it in a puddle for a while."
"Hmm, for how long?"
"Until it's drowned. Then you stretch it out under a hot light bulb, then you get within dashing distance of the latrine, and then you scoff it right down."
"So that's sauteing, and fricasseeing?"
"Exactly the same, just a slightly bigger rat."
