Regarding the Comte, he was apparently descended from just about every noble
family in Europe. He was also well known for making diamonds, which he lost
in bets. Then I presume he made some more, and lost them.

He owned at least one large dyeing plant, which later became a international
company (a long time after his "Death").

He was an accomplished mucisian, and you can still buy books of his violin
pieces.

Apparently, he was immortal. Or so he claimed. Probably. No one is quite
sure on that one.

I do have a copy of his biography on order at my local book store, but will
probably be waiting a loooooonnnng time.
