Well, a tip top of the morning to ye, Ari.
Welcome aboard. I am the ship's purser and will be sailing from here to the
unknown as soon as we can.

It's good to put your own twist to things, or generally make it more
localized. So players know the surrounding areas and can get more tied intot
he game.

In one of the first games I ran, I set it in the hometown where soemthing
was going on. Missing children, an old railway bridge and a phantom train
was the tie that brought the players into the fold.

I look up old newspapers from the past (which can be found at the library)
and jot down notes of weiridness that has happened through out the ages as
well. It adds colour to the game.

Example
GM:"As you drive down Queen Street, you approach the traffic light. The
light just switched from yellow to red. As you wait for the light to turn
green, you see on the hill an old house, with green siding, its windows are
boarded up and the lawn has been left uncut for a long long time."

Player #1: That must be that old ladies house that owned about a thousand
cats.

Player #2: That's right. Didn't see die there and no one discovered her
until three weeks later?

Player #3: Along with several hundred cats as well.

GM: As the light turns green. You slowly proceed. Make a spot roll. (dice
rolled) As you head off to your destination. You can see several cats
peering outside the attic window....

Has all the makings of a classic scenario. :)

Just throwing my two cents in.
"Hail to the King, Baby."
