A forensic expert has confirmed the suspicions of British police that the 
mutilated body of a five-year-old boy found in the River Thames could be 
the victim of an African ritual killing.

South African forensic pathologist professor Henrich Scholz has conducted 
a second post-mortem on the boy's torso which was found floating in the 
River Thames three months ago.

"If this case was presented to me in Johannesburg, I would have had no 
trouble saying that this is a ritual murder," professor Scholz said.

Also washed up near the body were candles wrapped in a white sheet with an 
African name written on it. 

Police have appealed for any information about the boy's identity, and 
believe he may be the first British case of an African-style sacrificial 
killing.
