Alternately, we fans could each chuck a few hundred US$ into a central account
every month so that Messrs. Tynes et Stolze can retire to a peacock farm in
Colorado and do nothing but write UA material all day. Cut out the middlemen, as
it were. ;-)
But on the broader topic of UA stuff in 'zines... might it be worthwhile to
debate, even if briefly, what -type- of stuff we want to see most? This would be
of interest to many e-zines, no doubt, as well as the Atlas guys. As a GM, I'm
most interested in seeing artefacts, adventure nuggets, and freaky occult
stuff - ideally, all three rolled up into one. 'Crunchy bits', like the rules
for car chases in PoMoMa, are also cool. Adventures (except one shots) founder,
I think, on the wide diversity of UA groups out there*. Which is a pity - any
ideas on how to solve this? NPCs, similarly, are tricky to pitch without the
same high road/low road mechanism in Pinfeathers, because the kind of NPC who
might crop up IMUAC is not necessarily the kind of NPC who would fit in yours...
Hmmm. And Demonground would be a GREAT way to start getting this 100% on-target
UA stuff out there. With their excellent presentation and professional look,
getting an article into DG was, in a weird way, more fulfilling than most of the
paid submissions I've managed to have accepted elsewhere.
*- although this doesn't seem to be the case with WEEP, remember we are talking
fan work here not canon stuff by the handful of guys who pretty much built the
world.
