Yup, that's about the size of it. You summon the demon, and either you have
the brass to keep it in line thanks to your spells or rituals, or you cut a
deal, or the demon gets grabby, or it just gets bored and leaves.

As for the rank of the fear stress check, it just depends on the situation.
Like any other stress check, the GM chooses the rank based on the guidelines
in the madness chapter.
