My feelings exactly - but isn't it a "Loa"? 8)

One other thing I always felt was important for adepts and magic in UA was the
individuality thing. *No* two Entropomancers are working their mojo in the same
way, nor do two Epideromancers or Dipsomancers have the same ideas or ways to
cast theier spells. There's no such thing as Cliomancer sects or Orders of
Irascomancers around. Every adept has more or less found his own, special way to
work his magic, and while he can give hints to other promising adepts-to-be,
they also have to find their own way.

So, one thing I can see why old school magic fails is that people who try to
work old school magic nowadays are much too caught up recreating or redoing the
"traditional" ways of Wiccans, Golden Dawners or Indian Shamen (or is that
Shamans?) to actually find the truth and the magical spark in themselves. I once
said about the same thing in one of the old "OU in Europe" threads - people
following the old traditions don't go the way of the adept, they start down
avatar alley - becoming low level avatars of whatever the collective unconscious
see as the archetypes of the wiccan witch, Crowley clone or noble savage.

Being an adept is basically saying "f*ck you" to society, the collective
unconscious and the universe and following your own, obsessed rules - that way,
you gain power. Following a tradition or lineage - or any kind of prewritten
path - doesn't really qualify for the above. Hence, no old school magic.

YMMV, of course. 8)
