There's an independent film I saw about sci-fi geeks trying
to me Shatner, who was like a saint in their eyes (while
Kirk was a god) and then being dissappointed by the real
thing. Shatner appears as himself. It's called "Free
Enterprise". (the main characters in the film are also
creating a film about a serial killer stalking the Brady
Bunch, on another note)
So we more-or-less adapt that plot, but instead of becoming
better adjusted when their hero is revealed to be human, the
fans are pushed over the edge, and decide te kill Shatner.
If the PCs don't stop them, they each end up prodigy
Iconomancers with a major charge (and some interesting
powers) and, sooner or later, decide to kill other
celebrities (perhaps other Star Trek cast members) to gain
occult power.
I don't know if it'd work or not, but I may have convinced
my Iconomancer PC to kill Charlton Heston for a major
charge.
