I'm saddling myself with some Chicago material as
well, since I don't know much about the town (besides
the odd novel about meat processing) which is why it's
a good thing that I've got three weeks until my next
game.

Interestingly enough Chicago has several aspects which will challenge
and aid your underground/subway campaign.

The challenge is that the subway system of Chicago is an elevated train
system (hence its nickname "The L." The tracks of the system are
basically on large raised metal platforms that make a horrendous amount
of clatter whenever they pass overhead. If you want an idea of what it
looks like check out the Blues Brothers (the apartment that Elwood lives
in is next to one such track). Another option is to check out ER which
is set in Chicago and uses footage of the L train as well.

What will aid your game, however, is that because much of downtown
Chicago is built up over many stories a strange feature has arisen known
as "underground chicago." One access to this is on Wabash Ave. (I think
its Avenue but it might be Street it has been a long time since I lived
in Chicago). For the most part underground chicago is full of
warehouses, but there is an area that has a variety of seedy resturaunts
and odd shops. At the time I frequented the area there was a burger
joint called The Billy Goats Tavern which was the basis for the old
Saturday Night Live "cheeseburger, chips, no coke-- pepsi" skit. There
was also a vodoo/magic shop down there that was run by a women from
Jamaica and her two daughters. If they exist still is beyond me.

Some thoughts of names you might give settings is the area:

The Whisper Hush (really good for underground Chicago as it was kind of
sparsely populated)
The Clattering Highway
Forgotten Str.

Hope some of this helps,
