1) It's not the first papal apology. I believe this is the same guy who
finally "un-anathematized" Galileo. Plus the Catholics and Lutherans have
formally rescinded their mutual "You're going to HELL!" "No, YOU'RE going
to hell!" positions.
2) He's the spiritual descendent of St. Paul. It was John the Baptist.
(Just remember that one went to jail, the other got beheaded.)
