Ick.. html formatting...

Anyway, did you see the recommended sources list on the Atlas site? That's a good place to start, depending on your particular tastes compare with John & Greg's. One of the good things about UA is it has breadth (ie a wide variety of modern occult games could be played, from Scooby Doo to Naked Lunch to Pulp Fiction), but that also means some suggestions which would be very useful to, for example, my game might not be useful for yours (at least, that's how it seems to me at the moment, but I'm in a confused state right now).

So what movies do I suggest? Nothing special. Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (for a view of a bunch of screwed up lowlives), Fight Club (because it's Fight Club and you should go see it immediately). What else? I can't think at the moment.

The comic book Sandman Mystery Theatre provides an entirely different idea of blending occult/horror elements and film noir (comic noir?) elements, but could be useful for flashbacks to the forties (cliomancy?) or moving the villians into the present. Maybe I'm just partial to the Golden Age Sandman for some reason.

wonders why Darkwing Duck parodied a hero no one had heard of
