Ultimately you did what you thought was a good idea at the time. Different
people may disagree about whether it was a good idea, but it's done now.
There's probably no good reason for folks to hold this against you in the
future.
>>>And I know where not to turn to for advice.<<<
Well, yes, this is true. Ultimately this is a list concerned with a
particular interest in the rpg hobby, and the wide pop-cultural influences
that help to make it fun. OT discussions are great when they're OA-ish, I
would expect, but for advice, for help, or for somebody to turn to when you
need to get words out of your heart, this is not an ideal place to turn.
That's not to say that individual listmembers won't want to help you when
you need them, especially if you correspond privately and become friends.
But it's a public forum, and we should try to respect the limitations that
this implies.
Here's something that I learned at university: teachers and childcare
workers encourage children to build a support network of people they can
turn to by listing one person for each finger of their hand. Only one person
can be from their immediate family, and Teddy doesn't count.
This ensures that when they need to turn to an adult for help, they have
options.
I would go on to encourage *everybody* to do something like this. Can you
think of one person you can turn to for each finger? Can you draw a picture
of your hand and label it? Maybe this sounds childish, but if it helps to
protect children I'm sure it can help the rest of us.
Recently I had a personal dilamma where I *needed* to talk to someone and
have them hear my inner thoughts (this is unusual for we Scorpio secret
squirrel types). I needed *three* people before I felt okay again. I'm
thinking that I'd better draw that hand.
This is very OT, naturally, but I'm hoping you'll all forgive me for the
digression. Back to you, Sue.
Cheers,
