I myself find the idea of a double ascension highly displeasing.  At most, I'd argue, one archetype can ascend and then be shortly followed by the next, perhaps only a fraction of a second later.  However, this division could give the Comte time to ascend.  Perhaps.

Does he have to kill everyone?  Could the 'Last' part refer to the last man to ascend, not the last person alive? (alternatively, when the universe is recreated, everyone in it will be destroyed, except the Comte, who'll live on in the next, leaving him as the Last alive, even after the prior Ic goes who knows where).

I like it more because it makes him a good guy on a cosmic scale, but a bad guy on the small scale.  Like Lili Morgan (IIRRC, the House agent in the main book), who'll screw over individuals for the greater good.  Which is a theme I might like to play up in a  UA campaign.
