I've seen the film, but not until a couple years after I wrote "The Course
of Winter," which was the first appearance of the NG. It is an awfully fun
film. Hartley's "Henry Fool" has a bit of a UAish vibe, with a janitor who
writes a poem that changes lives. And his "Book of Life" is a wonderful,
funny treatment of the Biblical apocalypse.

Speaking of films, the Seattle Film Festival starts next weekend. I've
bought tickets to about three dozen films, most of which feature criminals,
death, violence, or the occult. I should come away with at least a handful
of films to recommend here for UA strip-mining.
