I heard a lot more about the Florida recount thing than I needed to, 
although it's my fault that I'm awake when the only television options are 
news and infomercials.

Probably the most interesting thing about Australian elections is that 
voting is compulsory; you get fined if you don't vote. I can't imagine what 
that would do to elections in the US. I'm just not qualified in that kind of 
thing.
