Dead German guys dominated my life last year. Brecht, Kant, Frued, the
Expressionist playwrights...
If the Cruel Ones are kantian, then you can still have them as angels - or
what we understand to be angels. Their true nature is something that we
cannot apprehend, and so the Comte was right - angels are not as he had
always believed.
The issue with Kant is that we can never actually describe the noumenal, and
so directly using the Cruel Ones in a game would be impossible. You could
only refer to them second-hand (which is what I think UA currently does).
Characters could never actually know the nature of the Cruel Ones; they
could only know that because of their nature, certain truths are evident
(like, demons don't talk about the Other Side). You could then make guesses
at the truth, but your understanding would always be imperfect.
>>>Time doesn't exist in the outside world, just it's necessary for us to
comprehend it, etc, and so is one of the cruel ones.<<<
Arguably it doesn't exist in this one, either.
