[UA] Cruel One Cosmology

I don't know. As a GM, I enjoy the Cruel Ones as
murky, unexpainable noumenon. When players ask I refer
to the angel set to watch the Gate of Eden and Sodom
and Gemorrah. Although using archetypal concepts to
the Cruel Ones fits as well, 'cause it slots in neatly
with the house of Renunciation's explanation of
perceptions filtered through metaphor.

The Qu'ran describes Azrael as so huge his wing blots
out the sky and the world is a mote in his eye. So
something to that effect. The exact wording is lost to
my memory.

I see Cruel Ones as alien "thingies" that exist beyond
the Veil, watching.

Then again, it were the Watchers (angels cast out of
heaven) that fled to the world and taught humans how
to war, wear make-up, and use sorcery...

I would use Cruel Ones like demons, they have zero
Body, Mind, Soul, Speed at 100%. Listing skills is
pointless cause they just use the Host's skills at
+50%.

Any Host they take over gains awesome powers (a
Entropomancer random magic ability with five major
charges, fifteen significant, and endless minor
charges! And a always active permanent minor backwash
effect), but when the task is complete and the Cruel
One leaves, it dumps the spiritually hollowed husk as
the occupants soul was scorched away by the
psychically massive presence.

They are generally oblivious to human interference,
but if someone does get a Cruel One's attention it
seeks the human out and takes his soul across the
Veil, leaving the body dead. Kinda like "Death" in
Final Destination.

Sort of God's version of Terminators. Just less
approachable.
