All goes well, I'll be running a UA shot at Kubla Con this year. It looks
like I'm going to be running where the PCs - four fringe occultists in the
Bay Area who know each other from College - all end up inbetween four
cabalists who got messed up by the vodoun stuff mentioned earlier on this
list and the three powers that be that are canon for the SF / Bay area.
This lets me hit lots of fairly "traditional" occult stuff - Vodoun,
possession, madness in the face of the unknown from the four cabalists - and
a lot of the edgy stuff from UA that doesn't push the borders too far - the
Invisible Clergy, Anihilomancy, death magic, and in a slightly off canon
take, the Old School Cliomancers of the Bay Area.
Hopefully, it will be a) approved so I can run it and b) far enough off the
normal kilter of "huh, a terror/action RPG" that it'll get too 'em, without
just freaking 'em out. IE, pornomancy isn't going to come up much, since the
PCs don't have much knowledge of the OU and none of my NPCs will be into
Pornomancy.
In any case, hopefully it will be a blast, and all will be converted, and no
one will resist us any longer. I can't think of a better way to promote UA
then to run good games of it at Cons and at home and convince others to do
the same.
