They way I envision the spectrum is this:
* BOHICA: You done bad, and get a whuppin'. [1]
* Sour Cherry (matched failure): You done bad, and lose
sumthin'. [2]
* Normal Fail: You done bad.
* Normal Success: You done okay.
* Flipped Success: It looks like you wuz gonna do bad, but you
did okay.
* Perfect Match Success: You done the best you can do. [3]
* Cherry (matched success): You done so good, you got sumthin'
extra.[2]
* OUACOWA: You the *man*, dog! [1]
[1] BOHICAs and OUACOWAs are insta-loss or insta-wins; total
botches or utter dominations of the task at hand-- you dictate
exactly what happens right or wrong.
[2] Cherries are quirks of fate that aren't directly related to
the quality of your success or failure; they are chancy things
that "broaden" or "deeping" that result.
[3] I think treating a perfect match as full damage, full
effect, just plain old "best success" fits. The higher you roll,
the better the quality of success; I think a perfect match
should give you the full measure of that success.
YMMV.
