"Has to end in death"? How many times would you have to get punched in the
face before you give up?

"Someone who's been reduced to under 20 wound points is going to be feeling
everywhere -- he'll have a headache, slightly blurred vision, and terrible
burning in his lungs from hyperventilating, on top of the direct signs of
injury. Someone under 10 wound points should know for certain that he's in
deep trouble." --UA, page 135.

I'm sorry, if it hurts to breathe and I can't see and someone's been
hitting me, I'll quit. So (I suspect) will 95% of the population.

>In UA, as it stands, you can't knock someone unconscious without killing

Hm... the problem with including knockout rules is that you then run the
risk of some joker finding a way to game the system where, instead of
having to claw through Eponymous' 80 wound points, he just knocks him out,
then slits his throat. But I suppose I could put some knockout rules in
somewhere.

>That's a flaw. It's also almost impossible to kill someone in one

I have swordfighting 40. I roll a 33. I do 33+9 points of damage --
enough to kill a fairly weak opponent. Every time I take a swing at
someone with a sword, I've got a 10% chance of doing firearms damage. When
you add +9 damage to that, someone with a 50% sword skill has a 5% chance
to take down a lot of opponents, on top of the 1% chance of an instant
kill. It's not as dangerous as a gun, true, but guns are more dangerous
than swords.

If the reinstatement of capital punishment was clearly doing nothing to
reduce the number of murders in those states permitting it, it certainly
appeared to be cutting down on the number of confessions.
