You don't want to change the name. the whole point is to create a paper
trail to someone else. You run a normal mail scam (pick any there are
oodles) and accept personal checks from the marks. Those checks are made
out to the person with the name on the account.

Blank deposit slips cause the teller to check ID occasionally. The real
deal will cause the teller to overlook asking for ID. It works in Nevada
because the rules for tellers cashing checks are much stricter than the
rules for depositing checks because the banks want to cover their asses.
The key to this scam is that you NEVER make withdrawls against the victim's
account. You deposit the checks you get from the mail scam in someone
else's account and fill in the "less cash received" area for about a third
of what the checks from your mail scam total.
This is about covering your ass as a con man. The checks from your mail
fraud are all made out to someone else and the money is all going into that
person's account. And more than likely you've got the account holder's
number from one of their checks which means you also have their address. If
you are approached by law officials you can point the finger at the person
all those checks are made out to so you can avoid the mail fraud charges.
It works because you NEVER make a withdrawl from their account. Many people
who go through their statement every month will raise hell about any
withdrawls they don't remember but look on extra cash as their just reward
for bank incompetence. They will say nothing. And in Oklahoma and Nevada
(not sure about other states) the banks don't have to keep records of which
branch the deposit was made at. It can just go through the bank's regional
computer which can cover any number of branches.
The check fraud is just a way to cover yourself while the mail fraud brings
in the cash. If you're really ballsy you could go to the authorities
yourself and try for a reward as CI, but it seems risky to me.
