[UA] Corrupt and Co-opt?

Marvel has a history of that, beginning with Namor (and I think the Human Torch) and also including Venom, Morbius, Ghost Rider, Dr. Doom, Magneto... about half the heroes used to be villains and half the villains once acted witht he heroes at least briefly.  

The video game Chrono Trigger features the heroes trying to stop this guy who they think is the big villain, and bust in on him at what seems him casting some dark ritual (imagine busting in on some CoC style cultists mid-ceremony).  Turns out his big spell wasn't _summoning_ the evil god that'll destroy everything, but actually keeping it away, and the heroes have now interrupted the spell and let in the evil god.  

ObUA: actually, i was going to suggest this scene for Ua, but as I think about it, it's better for CoC or something similar (any fantasy game, or various other games.  modify 'spell' to 'fiddling with high tech gadget' for sci-fi)
