About the gematria connection. I first entered "Hutt river, gematria" into
google and it found only your post to this list. Hutt river alone gave me a
lot of links which I read (though I don't understand this wheat quota
problem which started it all), but zilch on gematria, so I'd really like
further info on that. As those people are selling citizenship and honorary
titles I was thinking of taking it one step farther and have villains buy
such, then claim diplomatic immunity once the shit hits the fan. Add to that
a bit of magic, perhaps a unique school, and there could be something in it
for a UA scenario.
Doug asked: "Does anyone know of any other small countries like these?"
San Marino comes to mind. It is located on a rock which looks like it has
been thrown into the middle of Italy (and there is a legend which states
just that). Most of the country is vertical. According to legend the saint
Marinus founded a settlement there in the 4th century, and it was a republic
from the start, making it the oldest republic of the world. Documents
mention San Marino for the first time in the 12th century. In 1631 the Pope
recognized San Marino's independence, and on the congress of Vienna 1815 it
was affirmed. The country survived the founding of the Italian state 1861.
In WW I SanMarino supported Italy, in WW II they supported the fascists
initially but later went neutral; that didn't stop the allies bombing it
though. It was a haven for dissidents on the run from the fascist system
until German soldiers were stationed there. I was there last year and it's a
nice place indeed.
