I'm terribly hard to embarrass, so not lately. Current vamps I play include
a guilt-obssessed Venrtrue chick who thinks she's possessed by a ghost (or
maybe she is) and a scary old man who thinks that vampires are angels. One
involves wearing a skirt, makeup and boobs (it's larp), one involves being a
scary old man. Tres chic.
Wolfies making fun of D&D players is lie the high-school in-crowd making fun
of the geeks. Likewise, Kult and UA players trashing the wolfies is like
serious Arts students mocking the high-school in-crowd. There are probably
people who have some witty things to say about UA players (like say, their
inability to talk about UA on a UA list?).
There's a tangential connection between the original statements about horror
and wolfie bashing; it's about maturity. You can't really have effective
horror unless all participants understand and enjoy mature play. This is why
I don't play CoC in a club game, where you get all kinds. It's possibly why
there's often a lack of real horror in any vampire games that I've played.
Games like Vampire can have a lot of horror in them. Unfortunately, there's
a certain maturity level that you need to appreciate horror and play it
well, I think. Fortunately, Vampire is a game that offers a lot to people
who don't want or don't *get* horror. That's a good thing. It gives Wolfies
an RPG that's of reasonable quality, and one that can be enjoyed on multiple
levels.
At least they're not hanging around coffee houses reading excruciating
poetry or going to clubs and not dancing (as much).
ObUA? Hmmm. I can think of a parallel with the OU, but nobody seemed to bite
on my idea that MADD and BADD could be clueless cabals, so I'll drop it.
>>>Wait! Don't answer that!<<<
Don't ask rhetorical questions to a chatterbox. Don't say silly stuff when
Toles might hear you.
I'm leaving the room, now.
Cheers,
