[UA] Loser Newbie

One thing I like about UA is that you really CAN'T be
a loser newbie. As long as we understand your
question, and I think most, if not all, the list
members understand your question, then you're using
the "right" terms.
When I play UA(and this, I must point out, is a rare
occurrence due, mostly, it would seem, to where I
currently live), I try and avoid terms and jargon,
except, of course, in the case of speaking for
extremely uptight characters.
Now, in general, you could call an adept a wizard or a
sorceror or a magician or a guy with a pocketful of
mojo. Is an Avatar a preist or a stereotype or some
sort of angel? A demon? Or are we talking about a
very weird person, here?
My friends and I used to have great fun in superhero
games assigning our own names to the famous (and
not-so-famous) heavies our GM would trot out. We
battled everyone from That German Skull Guy to The
Razor Chick. Most of the world is not standardized,
especially not the "hidden" parts of it. In reading
through the two or three "occult" books I have to
hand, (Aradia: Gospel of the Witches and Cassell's
Dictionary of Witchcraft), I've run across six or
seven different ways of saying "magic spell."
So, in short, you are not a Loser Newbie and if you
want to put yourself down again, you owe me a dollar.
Special exceptions will, of course, be made for
Homeric appeals to the muse.
PS. That was a good question, too, by the way. I
always gave players the benefit of the doubt and let
them fill up all, what, 50 notches before they become
complete sociopaths, but I like to let them THINK
they're pushing the envelope when the Unnatural or
Violence starts peeping over 8 or 9.
