I think it would be very cool if you HINTED at terribl
backwash and cosmic indestructability. You could
allude to FRIDAY the THIRTEENTH, the SERIES and the
how the cursed objects in that were incorruptible (an
attribute usually belonging, ironically, to holy
objects.) You could talk about how nothing is ever
really destroyed and purse your lips as you flip
throught he rulebook a little.
Then just let them destroy the thing and that's that.
A few days later, of course, someone else pops up with
the "real" naked goddess video tape. Who's to say it
isn't the real thing? Who's to say powers inherent in
the record of ascendance doesn't transfer to the best
of the third or forth generation copies?
As the GM, of course, it's up to you to interpret the
magic of the world as you see fit, no matter what UA
canon is.
My favourite view of magic is as a quality rather than
an energy. So, yes, you can destroy a magical thing
and what you have is a thing of magic which is gone
forever. If you could convey some deep sense of loss,
maybe some image of St. George skewering the last
dragon or a hungry man shooting the last passenger
pigeons, maybe you could relay the idea of how subtly
meaning can affect the universe.
Then again, you could just have the stupid thing explode.
