Channels as written tended toward "enemy makes some attack, PV gets bonus attack" sort of thing, which is much more in the territory of the Martyr as you outlined the difference. Rather, the channel should work, in broadest terms, like "PV gets big bonus, but opponent also gets (equal or lesser) bonus". eg, PV can reroll a failed attack, but so can his opponent.
A variation on the archetype is the Underdog, who suffers losses but pulls through in the end. Which is a much more desirable archetype, and perhaps different enough to be completely separate.
One other thing: find appropriate anceint imagery as well as the modern imagery associated with nuclear war provided. Shouldn't be difficult, what with the discussion of greek tragedy, but it should be possible to have some anachronistic avatars (or weird mixing of nuclear weapons and Greek tragedy imagery associated with the godwalker)
