I've not spoken yet for the same reason, but in order to tilt the balance back
a little, and for anyone interested, I'm a strong atheist. Sometimes to the
point of being anti-clerical. I've been fighting (more or less) in the past
so that there's no discrimination between atheists and followers of a religion,
which in not the case yet in France (though it's already quite ok). A very
simple (and silly) example from my childhood, muslims could get beef instead
of pork at the school canteen. Therefore I once asked to have beef, but the
woman said no. I replied I was a muslim. She replied I was "obviously" not
a muslim (redhead with green eyes and very pale complexion). I replied she
could "obviously" not know. I got beef and a notification. I was 12... :)

I've been raised in a family where my dad replied, to the question "why are we
partying at Xmas if we're not catholics?", "well, son, it's just yet another
good opportunity to party, so you wouldn't like to miss that". I guess in this
light I'd stick with Mr Teapot and his instant-conversion trick. I'd even
be ready to do that if I can get more holidays (in Germany you get different
holidays depending on the official religion of your region, which makes me
think of moving to Bayern :).

ObUA:
On the other hand I have a complete inability to understand Faith and Religion
in general. Fortunately enough it has nothing to do with my understanding of
spirituality, but it still means there's a whole, broad field of experiences
I will never get to live. I'm therefore very likely to use religious aspects
in my games, to try to understand them better, or to play religious chars.
It's quite hard to get the proper feeling for it. I think Mage and UA are 2
perfect games for that. Since we're not on YAWoD-ML, I'd stick to UA: most
OU players seem to be too egocentric to really be part of something bigger
(except more often than not unwillingly being part of the OU), to really
follow anything else than their own instincts and agenda, and to share anything
else than a good blast. On the other hand there's obviously plenty of
opportunities for avatars/godheads/archetypes to be "religiously tainted".
What I always wanted to know, but can't really imagine is: what happens to
the very religious avatar who ascends, only to understand that the reality
is completely different from what his religious credo said? Would he still
think it's a test, and stick to his guns? Or would he suffer strong disillusion
and go directly to the House of Renunciation? Or would he ascend as a slightly
different archetype (not "The Saint" but "The disillusioned believer")?

Ok, enough for now...

A+
