They're a combination of two separate things, specifically a mammal and a bird.  I realize they fit gender roles closely, but other methods of combining opposed elements can channel the MH, just to a lesser extent.

Indeed, but it's hard enough to guess at what's in our Clergy, much less the last one, so me being lazy I mentioned ones we know about and might have been involved in the last world.

So that's what Planet of the Apes was about...  Charlton Heston did become the Omega Man, which begins to imply he's the Comte...  That was mentioned once long ago, IIRC.
