Which brings to mind a conversation I had yesterday about how many of
the ascended actually know about ascenscion.  I mean you don't have to
know there's an endpoint to being obsessed in order to be obsessed.
And I suspect that it's a massive surprise to many of them (if the
ascended are capable of surprise).

And taking my idea of people who merely want to ascend a step further.
If you were obsessed with ascenscion, would you think that you could
emulate the obsessions of others.
Pete Carrols Liber Null talks about "faking it until you make it"
where you convince yourself magic works until it does.  What if there
were people out there who thought along the lines of "All I have to do
is be the biggest serial killer ever in order to ascend?  No problem!"
