I'd place the actual ascension earlier, with Deep Throat being an avatar later on.  Good candidates would include someone involved in WWII or WWI (see the writings of the decade following WWI).  An interesting twist would be to have the Disillusioned Dreamer be a Nazi solider who realized that the Nazi party wasn't helping Germany (the dream he signed up for) but comitting genocide.

On a related note, has anyone suggested that Hitler ascended as something?  Though Russian soldiers claimed to have found his body, they were unable to ever provide proof, or locate it (erm, this all comes from vague memories on a documentary I saw a long time ago, and could be wrong), and then there's the issue of the Nazi interest in occultism (which has become something of an old cliche by now, I know)
