I'm working a temp job as a postal investigator at the moment. Not that
thrilling - I sit in an office and make phone calls all day, looking for
lost mail - but it's okay.
Today I had to track down two kilos of edible clay. From Romania.
The details of the case don't really matter - it's being sent from a family
to their immigrant son, and it was just being held up in quarantine.
But come on. It's EDIBLE CLAY. Dirt sent solely for the purpose of
ingestion.
Two questions:
1 - What's the real deal with this sort of thing? Religious ritual, quack
healing, wierd fetish or not? What real-world rituals and myths are based on
eating clay and dirt?
2 - What use could you find for such a thing in a UA campaign?

My own assistants have tried to kill me, but, like Rasputin, I notice not
the poison and laugh at their icepicks. Shoot me in the lungs and I'll snarl
and spit nicotine tar at you from the bulletholes.
