Actually, there's a drink I order from time to time (which I got from an
Effinger novel) equal parts gin and Ouxo (or anissette or drambouie) with a
splash of roses lime juice.

It's called a white death, and it has an amazingly complicated flavor that
even the people who don't like it say they understand why I do.  Just a
note, licorice can play well with others, you just need to bruise it a
little.
