You didn't like it pre-UA? I'm outraged. I think everyone
should like it. So, how did that change come about? A few
years ago were you turned off by depressing themes and have
come on over to the dark side?

This movie ranks very high on my list along with Brazil and
Memento. There is nothing supernatural about it, but as
Ville said, it's a great story showing one man's descent
into madness and how it affects the others.

I didn't get to see this in the theatres because my
girlfriend at the time was to squeamish to consider going
to see it. My current girlfriend loves it. That's a
keeper.

You refer to the movie based on Clive Barker's story,
right? That's good UA stuff. The movie itself is nothing
extraordinary, but the whole aspect of pain and pleasure
can show up. The UA scenario "Joy and Sorrow" is kind of
Hellraiser-like in the way the words are written.

The second one is even less extraordinary, but it's still a
neat viewing as the heroes enter the dimension of the
cenobites. The third one loses a lot of bite. The bit of
the art sculptor coming alive is neat. The whole
atmosphere of a punk angst goth club works well. However,
the transformed humans struck me as silly, and I watched
Pinhead turn into a comedic figure like Freddy Kruger. Now
that I think of it, the fact that people affectionately
referred to him as Pinhead should indicate that the bite is
gone.

I have not seen the fourth movie. I hear bad things about
it, but I feel impelled to watch it sometime.
