[UA] Lord Archer

Full agreement with James from this part of the UK :)

Some part of me feels that something this just shouldn't be anything
else. Kinda idealistic and naive of me, but there you go...

During the recent election, there was a lot of talk about how
politics and politicians weren't in touch with the country, about how
the electorate was apathetic and how this situation could be changed.
Well, I spent Thursday wandering around some of the most deprived
parts of the East End of London, and everybody there was talking
about it. There were signs in the cafes and taxis telling people the
result. So I guess Archer bridged that gap and engendered some
emotion among the electorate, even if he did go about it in an
interesting way.

So, what's UA-able about Archer? He's a pathological liar who lives
in a fantasy world of his own construction, yet he managed to reach
the highest echelons of British politics. A large majority of the
country loathes him, yet most of them will have one of his books on
their shelves (or at least have read one once). He's the second Tory
politician to be jailed in recent years for, essentially, lying
through their teeth. Beyond that? Not a lot. As James says, he's a
malevolent little goblin.
