And to continue this offtopic, but interesting discussion:
In Neil Gaiman's Sandman comic (specifically "The Wake", although I
don't know the exact issue) a scene has the dreamforms of Clark Kent,
Batman, and The Martian Manhunter discussing weird dreams. The
interesting part (besides the fact that Clark and Batman talk about
dreaming their life was a television show and the Manhunter never had
those dreams...) is it shows how the characters dream of themselves.
ObUA: Just had a neat idea for a dream campaign. The generic UA setting
exists, but only as a dream realm. Have the characters realize they're
dreaming, but their dream adventures tie into the real world. Just make
sure they don't tie into boring real world analogs, make sure it ties in
some worldshattering, in your face way. Like the dream characters are
chasing down the Comte for whatever reason. Their real-world selves
meet, have a "Don't I know you" moment, realize they've been sharing
dreams, and then see the Comte *in the waking world*. Gradually make
the dream world and waking world seem to blend. Start having other
characters that only existed in one setting show up in the other.
Eventually start letting the characters use their dream abilities in the
waking world.
And *never* explain anything.
