Frankly I think it's something to do with Disney trying to make himself The
Kindly Uncle.
On a related note, the founders of Scouts and the Boy's Brigade were at a
Scout camp one day and they agreed that the point of Scouting basically was
to create memtic replicates of Baden-Powell. I'm not really all that clear
how to set this up in the rules...I've used the cub scouts as a werewolf
cult, but I can't think of a being which can breed by replicating itself
across the generations with new carriers...well, there was the whole "You
are the Virus" thing. I don't think its that the BP-demon shattered into
bits and each person gets a bit of him...and I don't really see the -point-
of the personality cult except to be vaugely conservative and have someone
to turn up at big functions and wave flags.
Looking at BPs writings, he seriously thought of himself as a Peter Pan
figure (he named his son Peter after the play, and once asked his wife if
she was his Wendy). I get this impression he had a twisted up idea of what
was going on, and tried to become immortal through force of will, by staying
a "boy-man", a sort of grown up child. He died at Treetops in Africa and
although he has a grave, very few people actually saw his body. This may
tie back to the Lewis Carrol thing...there are all sorts of similarities. I
think perhaps Adam Sandler is is the new rival for his job...
Whoa, there.
OK, so I'm this guy and I make copies of myself and these copies stand
around at every major public festival holding the symbolic objects? So, I
get to draw charges from about 25 000 ANZAC Day ceremonies...
